On Sunday, May 11, at 9:00am, an illegal group entered a farm located in the village of Nuevo Oriente, in the municipality of Tame, and killed Luis Orlando Gelvez (national ID #91407444), who was with his wife and children at the time. The victim was a member of ACA.
The Peasant Farmer Association of Arauca (ACA) repudiates and rejects this unfortunate event, and asks the authorities to for an exhaustive investigation and a punishment that makes an example of those responsible, who are acting together with some local authorities who are interested in destroying the social fabric of its the rural communities and producing terror and displacement among the victims.
The Peasant Farmer Association of Arauca demands security guarantees for the free development and exercise of its community work aimed at winning peace with social justice.
